Recently I made the abrupt decision to transition to a minimalist wardrobe. So far its been one of the better decisions I have made to date. I have always admired the minimalist style of blogs (Harper and Harley and Mija Flatau). However, before this transition, I would always wonder how could these bloggers stick to the same colors and tones season after season? It seemed too safe, so boring. Or so I thought…

Fast forward to a few years prior when I was discovering my style, I would always be drawn to the statement piece, always. I constantly felt like I needed to incorporate the latest trend into my wardrobe. I hate to admit it but I was chasing trends. Yet my wardrobe had no foundation. I never had a basic white or black cami or t-shirt and I am still looking for the perfect pair of jeans. Basically, I was missing the heart of my wardrobe (devastating, I know). This realization began the transition.
As much as I would like to say that the actual process was that of the movie scene in Sex and the City where Carrie invites the girls over to help her clean out her closet while enjoying some champagne (Samantha where you at girl!?), it actually took no longer than 10 minutes (true story) and unfortunately there was no champagne. Then and there I decided my wardrobe would consist of simple and classic pieces in neutral colors.
Although I have edited my wardrobe there still are some gaps (still missing those classic blue jeans!). But I have to remember that it is a process and to take my time. Right now I am focusing on investing in classic staple pieces that I hope to continue to wear for seasons to come.
I promise to keep you updated. In the meantime here are few pieces I have my eye on down below.
